There is no direct public transport from Edinburgh to Skye – both train and coach services will need to be changed at either Perth, Inverness, or Glasgow.

Malaig to Armadale ferry

  • Operated by Caledonian Macbrayne.
  • Reservations essential.
  • 2 ferries in the summer with multiple sailings per day.
  • 1 ferry in the winter with 2 sailings per day.

CalMac Website

The Original Glenelg-Skye Ferry

  • The last manually operated turntable ferry in Scotland.
  • No reservation required.
  • Operates Easter until October.
  • Single track roads to and from the ferry.
  • Seven days a week between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. (10 a.m. to 7 p.m. June, July, August), every 20 minutes or as required.
